The April issue of Burda is due out on March 17, but they haven’t put the full preview online yet. Interestingly, there’s a new preview up now that is different from the one last week– some of the same stuff, some new stuff, and some stuff gone. (Remember the mysterious shirtless guy? He’s gone from the preview now!) No technical drawings yet, but some of the new stuff in the preview is cute!
[UPDATE: Thanks to Tenshi, who unearthed the full preview by digging in the issues archive! Brilliant! Shirtless guy doesn’t make an appearance though, so I guess we’ll have to wait until we see the issue to understand what his deal was?]

Reminds me a little of Simplicity’s Cynthia Rowley skirt pattern:
I don’t think this style would work for short-legged, boxy-figured me, but I bet it could be pretty cute on you.
I’m also really liking this dress- love the graceful neckline which is off-the-shoulder without being evocative of bad 80’s looks that I don’t care to revisit, and I like their color choice of willow green, so nice for spring. I wish it fit the model better though, as she’s swimming in it through the waist and hips:
I’m intrigued by this next dress as well- from what I can see of it, it hangs very gracefully and seems to have a lovely minimal aesthetic. I would be miffed that the entire front is blocked from view, but that would require me to be miffed at an adorable silvery kitten, and even the Selfish Seamstress isn’t cold enough to hold a grudge against a kitten:

BTW, I feel fairly certain that they didn’t even make a real version of this cuff (that’s what it is, right? Hard to tell out of context)- is it just me or do those colored shapes look Photoshopped on? Scroll back up to the first belt- also looks like Photoshop! Mmmm… trivial sewing-related conspiracy theory….
Well, whatever BurdaMag is doing, they’ve certainly gotten me curious to see the whole preview. Inexplicably shirtless guys? Potential prettiness hidden behind kittens? Bracelets that may or may not exist in real life? Oh, BurdaMag, you tease.

Very exciting stuff! I am waiting with baited breath. I’m especially anxious to see that blouse with front ruffles. BTW, I can never find these previews on the German site. I have to come back to your blog to find the link. What is the trick? I don’t speak German, so maybe that is my problem.

Yeah… I guess if you can read the website, there’s no real “trick” to it. All I can say is it’s usually in the upper left hand corner and look for the word “Vorschau” :)

I finally bit the bullet and signed up for Burda. Eeeee! I’m both excited and scared. I, unfortunately, won’t get the April edition, so I think I’ll have to search to buy it online. The things you’ve posted though look very interesting. So, are you going to re-up your subscription based on the above?

If the technical drawings look good, I think I’ll at least pursue an individual issue. Resubscribing is a maybe at this point. Somehow I’m not keen on resubscribing right before the summer months, as I’m generally not too interested in those. But I am looking forward to the May issue! Dresses galore!

Perhaps they’re working their way up to just Photoshopping all the items into the magazine. Dresses, pants, the whole works. Which would at least allow them the chance to use their Photoshop, since they clearly don’t really believe in using it appropriately in their normal layouts.
Oh just don’t get me started. The only thing worse than an over-Photoshopped fashion magazine is one that seems incapable of using photoshop at all. I mean, come on people. There’s a reason Thomas Knoll and Seetharaman Narayanan spend all their lives locked in the basement at Adobe creating new versions of their software. Use the flippin’ liquify tool! AIRBRUSH something, for the love of god! Take out that stupid wall socket in the background!
Um. I have some photoshop/BurdaFashion issues.

Funny you mention Seetharaman Narayanan — every time I’m booting up Photoshop, that’s the name that pops out visually, every time! Out of all those names. Think that’s intentionally placed?
The thing that bothers me lately about the photos in Burda is that this is a sewing magazine and I want to see the detail on the garment, not just the technical drawings. They’re trying so hard to look “fashiony” that you can’t see the clothes!
Although the kitten is obscuring the dress, the gloves are very clearly my fav, driving gloves! I’ve been wearing them all winter and my knuckles never complain about getting exposed.

I definitely like the kitty-dress, (and the others too, but I don’t think they’d work for me) so I’ll have to peruse the magazine and see if it’s worth plunking down the money just for the kitty-dress or if there’s anything else that catches my eye. I do have to ask WTF about the glove-chain-thingy they’ve got goin’ on there, seriously?!?!

The way they show the accessories, not being worn, no other objects around them, it’s hard to get a feel for the scale of these things. So I was really puzzled by the glove chain thing because I couldn’t figure out if it was a belt or a bracelet. If it’s a bracelet, where on earth are you supposed to find a pair of teeny tiny gloves? If it’s a belt and you buckle it in front (you know, like where you usually buckle a belt?) then don’t the gloves hang down like a pair of hands groping your ass?
And then I looked at it even closer and I figured it out– it’s neither a belt nor a bracelet– it’s a PURSE. Seriously- look at the glove on the right. It has a clasp on top. The chain is a handle. ACK! Too much accessories repurposing mashup! And good luck fishing your coins out when they get stuck in the tip of the glove fingers. I’m sure the cashier will be happy to wait patiently while you do that.

Looks okay, I think. Not overwhelming, but I love the skirt-with-bow and the sheath dress, and I’m also happy about the men’s shirt and the men’s pants. Husband is, too. However, I’m not too keen on the polo shirts. I never liked those and probably never will. Too sporty for me.
The crafty crap is just that – crap.

Someone posted a totally different preview on PR, more than you posted before, but different than this one. Weird. I do like that gray dress, what I can see of it, which is probably a good one for your slight figure. I loved some of the plus sizes, but now that I realize I really need to cut a 40 in the upper chest, harder to grade down. I can also see you in the off the shoulder dress but fitting well of course. I do love the color, but this is not a dress for my figure, alas.

hrmm. there’s a good amount that intrigues me in this issue….(not that I’ll ever get around to making any of it – I’ve had a blouse laying around for two weeks that just needs it’s buttons sewn on…) I’m liking that skirt, as well as the double breasted blouse and the trench coat…problem some other stuff too that I’m too lazy to look through right now :)
A hint: you can see more of the grey dress (or any other garment) – if you click on the tab above the slide show pics that says ‘Modellfoto’, you get a simple, non styled image of the garment…you can also see the line drawings if you click on the middle tab

I’ll wait patiently for my issue to arrive in paper. But I will say this, I’d rather have the kitty than any of those accessories! Actually, there are few things better than kitties. At some point, as an English speaker I will stumble on the non-obscured photo on the website and be able to check out the dress AND the technical drawing.
I was thinking that thing with the gloves is a trendy, Euro way to not lose your mittens? You don’t think so?
