Kudos to you for the power to say no.
Well these were hard to put into any semblance of haiku form but these are the 2 reasons I tell people that I can’t/won’t sew for them:
Sew something for you?
I said I sew, but not that
I was any good.
Sew something for you?
Sewing is a hobby and
not my profession.

I love your haikus… for someone who sometimes has trouble saying no (and is a teacher – so seriously how much free time do I have?), they are quite inspirational :)

I was reading aloud to my husband your very informative article about the latest sewing nemesis to threaten the self-esteem of your average home sewer as she masquerades as just one of us and then uleashes her secret seamstressing mojo on the hapless and unprepared.
I clicked onto the site and the eye of my English-schoolteacher husband was caught by your haiku.
I have to tell you-I failed miserably at fourth-grade haiku writing. The teacher read a few and the assigned each of us to write one. The other children snapped up their pencils and began scribbling furiously.
I looked around and wondered what the hell were they writing about? Who talks in numbered syllables anyway? And why were they so hunched over that I couldn’t glance at their papers?
I have never read an in-your-face haiku before and I wished I could have mustered the same pithiness and attitude as my ten-year-old self tried to wax poetic.
Alas I possess the ‘tude but not the pithiness. Kudos! Your haiku is so funny I want to post it above my sewing machine. This piece speaks for a lot of us.
