Wanted to quickly introduce myself, and lurk no longer. I have been reading for a couple weeks, and am quite excited for my own selfish reasons. I believe we are the same size, which makes using your fabulous free patterns so much better. Thank you, and please create more things for yourself and share all your hard work; for my benefit, of course. :-P
Thanks, I have enjoyed reading.

My haiku-
You, a scientist.
But you love English, too.
Double major, no?

that should be “adore” instead of love. Wrong syllable count. Not an English major.

Lady Selfish I hear that. I’ve got one better. I had a “friend” that said she would pay me to seam and heam some stuff for her and I excepted because work is slow and I need the income. Later that week I went and ran an important errand with her because she needed moral support and she suggested we go grab lunch at a local restaurant. I politely declined as I’m low on funds and need to save for rent and bills, etc. She told me not to worry and it would be her pleasure to buy me lunch. So we had a lovely meal. Anyway, about a week and a half later I come by her house to drop off the sewing work I had done for her, and we get to talking about this and that and in the conversation she off handily commented that her payment was the lunch she bought me the previous week!!! AGHHHHH, I was so flabbergastedly mad! So at that moment I thought of you, and decided I’m taking a vow of selfishness, and maybe this whole selfish seamstress affair isn’t as bad as it sounds. Never will I sew anything for anyone again!!! Okay maybe I’ll sew something for my non-jerky friends, but I won’t be sewing for her again, I promise you that Saint Seamstress of Selfishness, I pledge that to your sacred order!

My last year at university, I became known as ‘that girl who sews.’ yes, i sew. for me. but that did not stop everyone and their neighbor from asking me to hem, sew on buttons, fix seams, etc. i would do it for close friends…then other people wanted to know why i couldn’t do it free for them too…it was painful. i finally alternated between ducking out of rooms when the ‘i want you to sew for free for me’ people would come in, and telling people my fees. yup.
