LOL! I agree with Katie. I don’t want to sew curtains for my house either so why would I make them for someone else.

The day I sew curtains for my house would be the day before I do them for yours. Mini blinds are great!

hehehe I think I love you. I wish I hadn’t told anyone I can sew because now all I ever get is:
“Can you take up my pants??”
“If I buy 5 pairs of shorts in 4XL can you take them in for me?” (said by guy who wears a medium)
“Can you make me a dress?? Oh and it’ll only cost me $10, right?”
“Can you make me a cave-girl costume for my caveman party on Saturday night?”
NO
NO
NO
NO
NO!!!!
(Have not yet been asked to make curtains, thank God)

The more I think of myself, the more I realize I haven’t bees as much of a selfish seamstress as I wanted to be. Here’s a “short” list of the things I made for others:
– bed sheets
– curtains
– sofa covers
– replaced a zipper on a ski suit for a 5-year old nephew (broke around 6 needles doing it, and found out the suit cost around 10$ grrrrrrrr!)
– hemmed pants (a lot of pants!)
– narrowed down some garments
– recycled some garments into new ones
– opened buttonholes
– changed the jacket lining
– I made a bunch of clothes for my mom
– made maternity clothes for my cousin
– … I’m sure there’s more, but I can’t remember it all now
I should practice saying NO to my friends and family.

Being an animal lover a fellow selfish seamstress, I chuckle every time I use your “I’m glad you like it, But no I won’t make you one…” mug. Even my dh had a laugh at it when it came. I learned how to say no a long time ago!

I’m with the others – if I’m not making curtains for ME, I’m sure not making them for YOU!

I still haven’t learned how to say no. Instead, I like to make myself look good, while still not having to do the job. What’s that? You need a new zipper put in the sweat jacket you bought at Marshalls three years ago for $14.99? I’d love to do it. I’ll just need to you to pick up the new zipper and the thread. Oh, and watch my kids for two hours while I put the zipper in. Yeah, perhaps it would be easier to just go by a new jacket!

As I told the haberdasher lady in my hometown, if I can’t wear it, I don’t sew it!

I want this one on a mug/tshirt/tote, whatever! It’s a lesson I’m trying to learn for 2010. You’re inspiring me :)
